Intra-District Transfers
Intra-district Transfer refers to currently enrolled DJUSD students who would like to transfer to another DJUSD school. Priority for Intra-district Transfers is as follows:

  1. Students who want to transfer to their neighborhood/boundary school.
  2. Siblings of students currently in attendance at the requested school.
  3. Students whose parent/guardian works for DJUSD.
  4. New request for transfer to a non-boundary school.

Intra-district Transfer requests are approved based upon space availability in the requested grade level at the requested school. Parents/Guardians will be notified by e-mail when space becomes available and the transfer can be approved.  Parents/Guardians will be given a timeline to accept or decline the transfer.

Transfer requests for grades TK-9 need to be submitted to Enrollment Specialist, Korlyn Gibson at [email protected]. Grades 10-12, please contact your counseling department at your current school of attendance. 2023-24 Intra-district Transfer Request Form

2024-25 Intra-district Transfer Request Form

Inter-District Transfer
Effective 10/6/23, DJUSD is no longer accepting Inter-district Transfer requests for the 2023-24 school year.
We will accept Inter-district Transfer paperwork for the 2024-25 school year beginning March 1, 2024.

An Inter-district Transfer Agreement is a request for students who do not live within DJUSD boundaries to attend a DJUSD school. Parents/Guardians must start the Inter-district Transfer request (IDT) process at the District Office in their District of Residence. If the District of Residence approves the request, the IDT request is sent by the District of Residence (or the Parent/Guardian can hand deliver it) to the DJUSD Student Support Services Department at the District Office for consideration of approval.

Please Note: Do not submit pre-enrollment or any enrollment paperwork until you have been notified by DJUSD that the transfer is approved to enroll in a DJUSD school.

Inter-district Transfer Agreements (from out of Davis to a DJUSD school) may be mailed to:

Timeline
Effective 10/6/23, DJUSD is no longer accepting Inter-district Transfer request for the 2023-24 school year.  We will accept Inter-district Transfer paperwork for the 2024-25 school year beginning March 1, 2024.

Please note that the March 1st date does not apply to students currently enrolled in DJUSD. Currently enrolled students who move out of Davis must apply for an Interdistrict Transfer when they move in order to remain enrolled in DJUSD. Transfer requests for currently enrolled students in grades TK-12 will be approved by DJUSD and are not subject to the requirements in the ‘Availability’ section below.

Interdistrict Transfer requests for NEW non-DJUSD students will be reviewed beginning May 1, 2024. Parents will be notified by mail of the final decision no later than September 30, 2024, as to whether the transfer is approved or denied to attend a school in DJUSD for the 2024-25 school year.

Availability
Transfer requests for NEW students to the District are approved by DJUSD based upon space availability in the requested grade level. Initial interdistrict transfer requests may be denied because of overcrowding within district schools at the requested grade level and/or the specific choice program, limited district resources, or other considerations that are not arbitrary. Parents/Guardians must keep their child enrolled in their district of residence until DJUSD approves the transfer request.

When an Inter-district transfer for a NEW student is approved by DJUSD, parents must contact District Enrollment Specialist, Korlyn Gibson ([email protected]) by the specified date in the approval letter/email to confirm enrollment and complete enrollment paperwork. If the Parent/Guardian fails to meet the confirmation/enrollment deadline, the District may consider the interdistrict transfer request cancelled/rescinded.

Inter-district Transfer for a Student whose Parent/Guardian Works in Davis:
District residency status may be granted to a student if at least one Parent/Guardian is physically employed within district boundaries for a minimum of 10 hours during the school week. The Inter-district transfer may be approved if there is space available in the requested grade level and/or choice program. Once a student establishes residency on this basis, he/she shall not be required to reapply for enrollment in subsequent years. The student may continue to attend school in the district through the highest grade level offered by the district if the Parent/Guardian so chooses and if at least one Parent/Guardian of the student continues to be physically employed in Davis.

A Parent/Guardian of a student approved for a transfer must provide proof of employment which may include, but not limited to, a paycheck stub or letter from his/her employer listing a physical address within district boundaries. Such evidence shall indicate the number of hours or days per school week that the Parent/Guardian is employed at that location.

Inter-district Transfer for a Student when Parent/Guardian Does Not Work in Davis:
An interdistrict transfer is approved based upon space availability in the requested grade level and/or choice program. Once a student is admitted to a school on an inter-district transfer he/she shall not be required to reapply for an interdistrict transfer and shall be allowed to continue to attend the school in which he/she is enrolled. However, the inter-district transfer agreement is valid only for the requested school year and must be renewed with the District of Residence each spring for the upcoming school year.

At any time during the term of enrollment, the District may revoke enrollment for unsatisfactory behavior, academic achievement and attendance throughout the school year. Enrollment may also be revoked if the District discovers the information provided in the Interdistrict Transfer Request Agreement is false.

Appeals
If an initial interdistrict transfer request is denied, the Parent/Guardian may appeal the District’s decision within 30 calendar days from the date of the District’s denial letter.
The District will review the written request to appeal and will notify Parent/Guardian of District’s final decision within 10 calendar days.

Interdistrict Transfer Appeal Process for Student with Parent/Guardian Employment in Davis Status: Parent/Guardian must submit the reasons for the request to appeal in writing to the Associate Superintendent of Student Support Services. Appeals may be sent to [email protected].
