While learning at home can be engaging, not everyone has access to the resources needed. Davis Joint Unified School District will loan a Chromebook to DJUSD students who need an internet connected device. computer icon

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I check out a Chromebook or hotspot?
Please call (530) 757-5300 x117 and we will gladly plan a time to meet or assist you right away.  If you reach our voicemail, please leave your name, contact information, and how we can help. A DJUSD representative will respond to you as soon as possible. We will arrange a day and time for you to pick up your device(s) at the district office's Technology Department.

2. Where do I pick up my Chromebook or hotspot?
The DJUSD’s Technology Department is located along C Street behind the main entrance to the  district office, 526 B St. Davis CA. 95616. Note:  You must have an arranged pickup time with a DJUSD representative.

3. What should I do if my Chromebook will not start up?
- Check the charger. If your charger has a light that is not illuminated unplug and replug the cable from the wall socket.
- Hold down the power button for at least 10 seconds.
- There is a small light on the side of the chromebook keyboard. If this does not illuminate when the chromebook is plugged in then it is not receiving a charge and needs to be swapped out at the district office.

4. My Chromebook’s screen is cracked, do I need to purchase a new one?
No cost of repair has been implemented for families at this time. Please be extra careful with these devices as they are fragile. If your device gets accidentally damaged please call (530) 757-5300 x117 or submit a request for an appointment at Get Help to come have it replaced.

5. The hotspot’s internet connection is slow, can I get a new one?
- The hotspot’s connection may be slow for many reasons.
- The hotspots act like a cell phone in the sense that their signal is only as strong as the cellular reception it has at your location. If, generally, the cell reception in your location is weak - the hotspot’s signal will be weak.
- If you are inside and are getting poor signal, try to move the hotspot close to a window or even outside for optimal cell reception.
6. When do I return the Chromebook and/or hotspot?
This is still undetermined based on the school closure.  Check this page frequently for updates on return procedures. To arrange an early drop off at the district office, call the Technology Department at (530) 757-5300 x117.
