SMSTR - Sacramento Metro Special Education Teacher Residency (Formerly Yolo Teacher Residency Program)

teacher and class

Earn your credential while gaining valuable classroom experience in an apprenticeship while receiving tuition reimbursement.

Innovative Approach

Learn about an exciting new scholarship opportunity where we’re creating opportunities for future teachers to participate in a year-long intensive apprenticeship as a Resident in a highly-skilled special education Mentor teacher’s program/classroom without the stress of working. Our scholarship offers up to $40,000 in funding for the year with the guarantee of a job when you graduate. How cool is it to build your skills in a supportive space with those who will be your future colleagues! It’s called the Sacramento Metro Special Education Teacher Residency (SMSTR) scholarship 1-Year, summer start Resident Pathway.

If you'd rather work, then you can pursue your special education credential + masters through our 2-year, fall start Working pathway.

Do you:

  • have your bachelor's degree (or will soon)?
  • aspire to teach and empower families and children with disabilities?
  • love to work closely with students and families to figure out who they are and what works best for them?
  • believe ALL individuals can learn and belong in our schools and communities?

Then apply to one of our Special Education Programs!

Applications open now and due by March 1
