DJUSD Moving to Phase 4: 5-Day/Week Modified In-Person Model April 12
Posted on 04/02/2021

Earlier today, Superintendent Bowes shared a new message with the DJUSD community. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic over the last twelve months has transformed our daily experience - how we live, work, play and learn is so different from what we once knew. Our circumstances, however, are changing for the better in DJUSD with a five-day/week return to campus beginning on April 12.

The change to a five-day/week return to campus is being driven by the following factors:

  • The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and California Department of Public Health (CDPH) updated K-12 school guidance for student distancing in classrooms from six (6) to three (3) feet.
  • Consistent with California state legislation (SB 98), school districts must provide in-person learning “to the greatest extent possible.”
  • A focus on one change in model between April 12 and the end of the year will provide stability on our campuses.
  • COVID-19 case rates continue to decline in our county and region.
